This is the story of Lisa, in her own words. She is the mother of three and
owner of My
Very Own Mail , a unique idea you're going to want to read more about.
I am a stay at home mother of three wonderful and sometimes awful ;) school
age children. They are Patrick-10, Shawn-9, and Sammie-6 (7 in November). They
are in the first, third, and fourth grades and this is the first year they are
all in school all day--woohoo!! Therefore, one would figure now would be a good
time for me to get a J.O.B., right? No way!!
For one thing, I am very active at my children's school and, more
importantly, if I am not passionate about what I am doing, I am apt to quit in a
few months, or go crazy until I do. So, to me, now is the perfect time to start
my own business. I actually began searching the internet for work at home jobs
last fall. My research taught me that, especially for someone who wants to work
at home, starting my own business would be the far better option. However,
before I fully conceded this notion, I joined this program and that program, and
I bought e-book after e-book. And eventually, I bought the right one! It was an
e-book full of small business ideas and one of the ideas was to send monthly
personalized letters to children. That sounded just perfect for me and I decided
to include a craft project and a surprise with each mailing. And I could
live my dream of being a teacher vicariously through my letters. I am a diehard
bookworm and I promote reading every chance I get in my letters. I eventually
would like to expand my business to include worksheets, which would involve
personally getting to know each child, as even within the same grade level,
children are on many different levels. I would like to implement the worksheet
program in the summer with more frequent mailings, as children are often bored
over the holiday - "Mom, there's nothing to do!!" If I got paid just for hearing
that, I'd be rich! And they need to review their acquired knowledge over the
long break. That is my long term goal and my short term goal is to send children
the fun letter packages once a month and sit back and imagine their sweet faces
when they realize the mailman brought them their
Very Own Mail!!
I am really very excited about my business--I will be able to financially
contribute to the household doing something that I am very passionate about AND
a lot of little faces will light up once a month thanks to me!! What more could
a person ask for?? One of my favorite parts about my website is the Creation
Station--children can send in their own artwork in the form of stories, poems,
or pictures to be published right on the site in the MVOM Gallery and the MVOM
Writers Workshop!! I have been trying to get this set up for months, and now,
with my new hosting package, I have finally been able to do this! The children's
names are entered in a drawing for each personal masterpiece they send in to me.
Once a month, I draw five names and they each receive a free special surprise!
Lisa is really excited about her new business and thrilled with her decision
to give it a try. If you have little ones that might enjoy receiving their very
own mail, stop by Lisa's site at
