My WAHM Story
Hello, my name is Mandy Joyce, and I would like to share with
you my WAHM story.
In 1999, I was currently employed at a local chemical plant. I
was a draftsman/clerk type person and worked the normal 40 + hours
a week. I became pregnant in Nov. 99. In Aug. of 2000 my son,
Jeremiah, was born. I had planned on going back to work part time,
in which the company changed their policy on, during the time I
was on Medical leave. I prayed and prayed that the Lord would
bless me to be able to stay home. AND HE DID! I quit a job, a
GREAT JOB, that I had been at for 10 yrs. I walked away knowing my
Lord would take care of me…and my husband too!
I painted murals for baby rooms, I did craft shows, sold
jewelry, everything to make ends meet. Finally, when I was about
to give in and head back to the work force, my sister and I (whom
love to cook), decided to TRY out hand at a home business. The
rest is history! In Feb. 2003, it was only a dream. By April it
was a business. That fast. Next thing we know, we are up to our
elbows in orders, business, etc. Our Business is
FAMILY
FIXIN’s. Easy to Fix Mixes from Our home to yours! We have a
website in which we receive several orders through. We also do in
home parties and allow people to same our products before
purchasing. AND…that’s not the best part! We just hired our first
consultant. Her name is Tammy McGee. She’s a fireball. She’s has
so many wonderful ideas on how to make this business grow faster.
We are looking for more recruits as we speak. If you are
interested, contact us at
hickychicks@citynet.net.
We are currently exploring the world of fine food shops and
gift shops to carry our products. We have been blessed with a
wonderful Dept. of Agriculture that has really stepped in and
helped us out. My advice to anyone that is starting a food
business…DO your homework first. What a lot of people don’t
understand is the “legal” mumbo-jumbo behind starting a food
business. There is Liability insurance. Just incase someone gets
sick from your product. There is health inspections, sanitation
directors, 6 mon. visits from local health depts. I was informed
that there are a lot of businesses who don’t bother to explore
these options and that are shut down due to improper facilities,
etc. I advise anyone considering a food business to please explore
all options. Call people, get info packets and ask what you need
to do as a business.
I can truly say that my sister and I are truly blessed with
this little business venture. We only pray it continues to grow
and flourish!
Thanks for your time~
